A message from our ED Bob Kelly as we navigate these times.
A NOTE FROM NEWTV'S
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR BOB KELLY

All public schools in Massachusetts are closed through April 6. Similarly, NewTV will follow suit and keep our facility closed to the general public as long as the threat remains. We have instructed most of our staff and all of our interns to work from home while a select few of us will come to NewTV to ensure the Mayor and various departments of the City of Newton have access to our video programming services.

Of course our thoughts are with our country, community, and people around the world as we endure these difficult times.

What you can expect from us:

  • We are working with the City Council and School Committee to broadcast their Zoom teleconference meetings live on our cable channels and streaming through Vimeo.
  • We are in constant contact with Mayor Fuller and her team to coordinate public service announcements for Newton residents to stay informed. Watch the latest PSA about social distancing and look to our website for the most recent updates. Be sure to tune in tonight to our program with Mayor Fuller about the COVID-19 response in Newton. More info here.
  • We are producing training videos for members to watch while at home. These will help you stay sharp and ready to hit the ground running when we reopen. Director of Member Services Brian Hebert has transformed his living room into a studio in order to create online classes. Short video tutorials will be posted online soon.
  • We have contracted an eco-friendly industrial cleaning company to sanitize our offices and provide the safest possible work environment for our employees.
  • Our Government and Education channels will be broadcasting some exciting program blocks for you to watch while at home. View the Government schedule and the Education schedule

Also throughout the month of March, NewTV’s Education Channel will be showing classic movies every Sunday evening. On March 22, we'll be showing Harold Lloyd's Safety Last, and on March 29, we'll be showing Charlie Chaplin's  The Great Dictator.  Films start at 7pm. To watch, tune into Comcast 99, RCN 3 (629 for HD), or Verizon 32 (2134 for HD).

What can you do?

  • Be patient and follow all the steps recommended by the CDC, which can be found here.
  • Since many of our employees are working from home, we ask you to use email to contact us whenever possible. For general information about NewTV, please feel free to email me at bobk@newtv.org.

Thank you for your support and know that we are doing everything we can to keep you informed throughout this unfortunate period.

Sincerely,

Bob and the team at NewTV
